The Living City
CFDA In the city, the soul of humanity hides behind masks of iron and concrete. To run one’s had along an iron railing is to caress the hand of a fellow human. Every object we encounter is the product of a social process involving millions of human beings around the globe. Yet, we see these objects only as they appear on the surface -- a concrete slab, a glass window pane, a fraying iphone charger.
We often fail to recognize that a complex cosmos of human activity is embedded within every surface of the city.
The following textile studies are an attempt to reinsert the humanity into what we take for granted as merely ossified structures of the urban environment.
